Purpose of the role
We are looking for a motivated and solutions focused individual to lead our established and knowledgeable Finance Team. The role reports to the Finance Director Executive to support a company with approximately 120 employees based in Queensland and New Zealand.
The purpose of the role is to coach and lead the Finance team with day-to-day activities, incorporating the AR, AP and payroll functions, and the management/financial team. The Finance Manager delivers on all internal and external financial reporting deadlines, ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies, and applicable regulatory and legal requirements. The role leads the facilitation of the external financial audits, alongside preparation of statutory financial reporting and income tax returns.
Responsibilities
- Effectively coach, mentor and motivate team members to achieve their personal, team and company goals and expectations
- Management of the end-to-end financial operations of the business including general ledger, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close to ensure excellent customer service
- Manage the annual statutory audit process and the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements and tax returns.
- Create, analyse and make recommendations on financial reporting
- Prepare business cases and recommendations for investments, cost-saving, and productivity initiatives. Work with the Finance Director and departmental heads to drive specific costs saving initiatives
- Lead and manage quality and continuous improvement practices to ensure cost effectiveness and efficiency and to find the best ways of working for the team and our customers
- Lead regular team meetings to discuss and monitor workflows, deadlines and deliverables
Experience and Requirements
- CA or CPA qualified finance professional with experience in a similar industry/ commerce role
- Expert technical accounting skills and knowledge of IFRS/ AASB Standards
- Strong management skills of the entire Finance function, with the ability to lead a team of people and effectively coach, mentor and motivate team members to achieve personal, team and company goals
- Experience in payroll management, including compliance with Fair Work Award legislation and Australian workplace regulations
- Experience with making decisions, being flexible in responding to changing priorities, working unsupervised, being accountable and acting on directives
- Fast learner with technology and systems relevant to the finance sector, and willing to learn and adopt new work practices and procedures
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines to contribute operationally and strategically when required
Desirable
- Experience with Sage Evolution ERP
- Experience with New Zealand payroll legislation
